Assistant Farm Manager

Purpose:

Our client an international company in the poultry sector is looking for a highly motivated and competent individual to manage both people and maintenance activities a production setting. The successful candidate stands to grow in a dynamic and growing international organisation.


Responsibilities: 


Technical 

  • Ensures production schedules are followed and targets are met in the agreed timelines

  • Works closely with the Farm Manager to ensure all aspects of running the farm are met from Chick Placement Preparation to turnaround.

  • Maintains safe working practices of all staff and contractors on site.

  • Manages Contractors and maintenance on-site.

  • Ensures the welfare of livestock, feeding ordering, ventilation management are working on fully environmentally controlled houses, vaccination, record keeping, etc. Are met.

  • Ensures that farm production system are up to date and frequent reporting of activities 

  • Ensures all farm machinery and vehicles are in operating condition, i.e tractors and quad bikes

  • Takes responsibility for maintaining a clean and organized farm environment.

  • Ensures all best practices and SOPs are adhered to in terms of Chick production and bio security 

    People Management 

  • Aligning staff with the company’s daily, weekly, monthly and annual objectives 

  • Managing workers through one-on-one and team meetings on performance relative to set objectives 

  • Supervises and motivates a team of workers 

  • Reviews worker performance and identify training needs. 

  • Daily walkabouts to identify areas for improvement

  • Quarterly performance reviews using a evidence-based report back process 


Minimum Qualifications and Skill: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree holder in Animal Health, Veterinary Medicine, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience in poultry is an added advantage.

  • Minimum 3 years experience in maintenance, people management and poultry as a bonus 

  • Process oriented.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem solving.

  • Great organizational skills and time management.

  • Strong IT skills (Computer literacy).

  • Must be willing to reside in Siha, Kilimanjaro

Responsibilities: 


Technical 

  • Ensures production schedules are followed and targets are met in the agreed timelines 

  • adequate Decides on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain a

  • Ensures equipment are in good working order and takes responsibility for its maintenance

  • Monitors the production processes and adjust schedules as needed 

  • Monitors productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programmes 

  • Organizes the repair of any damaged equipment 

  • Liaises with different departments, teams and companies, e.g. suppliers, managers, clients 

  • Ensures that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times 

  •  Ensures customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met 

  •  Works with managers to implement the company policies, SOPs and goals 

  • Collate and analyse data, putting together production reports for Management 

 
People Management

Veterinarian Examining a Bunny

Animal Health Specialist - Mbeya, Zanzibar, Mtwara

Our client in the poultry industry is looking for highly proactive Animal Health Specialist to support their
growing customer base in the best rearing and growing practices as per set and agreed standards.

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and building strong customer relationships in the designated location.

  • Conducts the different types of daily visits such as but not limited to post-placement grower visits, normal grower visits, reseller visits, prospecting visits, etc. to growers and resellers as planned by the line manager.

  • Provides appropriate technical support and farm management and commercial advice to growers in line with management guidelines and best practice with the aim of improving the grower’s results.

  • Sets up and conducts seminars and/or training sessions with growers on company products to boost awareness and sales as requested by the line manager.

  • Works closely with the Technical Support team to ensure all customers’ complaints are dealt with and closed timeously.

  • Handles sensitive customers complaints to maintain strong relationships.

Minimum Qualifications, Requirements and Skill:

  • Diploma holder or higher in Animal Husbandry from a recognised institution

  • Must reside in the areas of Zanzibar, Mbeya or Mtwara

  • Must be licensed and able to drive a motorcycle and light vehicles.

  • Computer literate with above average digital skills

  • A people person with strong people and customer service skills

  •  Strong communication skills
